Environmental Policy

MEGTEK aim to be an environmentally responsible company, and seek to run our business in such a way as to minimise its impact on the environment.

With our consultancy work, our ideal is to minimise the amount of travel necessary. Whilst it is normally a pre-requisite for us to work on a clients' site, we prefer to engage with clients who are geographically close to Shrewsbury; Telford being an ideal example. Where feasible in economic and time terms, we would seek to use public transport or bicycle in preference to the car.

As a home-run business, we use low-energy products wherever possible, such as LED lighting which uses a fraction of the energy of conventional bulbs. Ultimately, we aim to install photo-voltaic solar panels to generate some of our electricity, which we hope will help offset the energy used by our web server.

As a household, we choose locally-produced organic produce wherever possible, and participate fully in our local recycling scheme. We are keen advocates of our local Freecycle groups, which we have found an excellent way to give unwanted items a new lease of life.
